The Illusionist

My sister and my Mum suggested I should watch this movie as the only films i tend to watch are Leo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks and comedy movies and I wanted to watch and explore a different movie, both with the plot and the choice of actors and I got round to watching it yesturday after homework, my goodness, it is brilliant.

It doesn’t follow any cliches and is a  Drama about a magician in Vienna around 1900 named Eisenheim who’s childhood- sweetheart relationship with a woman named Duchess Sophie Von Teschen, in which they spent most of their time trying to be together without being caught causes a threat on the closure of the theatre by the crown prince, played by Rufus Sewell. and her eventual murder, making him perform his biggest illusion ever.

It has a good cast of exceptional actors, including Edward Norton, Jessica Biel, Paul Giamatti (Giamatti was in Cosmopolis with Robert Pattinson last year) and cameos from a then 16 year old Aaron Johnson and Eleanor Tomlinson (who, may i add, is not related to 1D’s Louis Tomlinson) but the effects of the illusions are cleverly  done in a way that makes the hour and fifty minute film worth to watch. It is realistic  and there are no plot holes- the only downside of this film  is that it can be a bit too long at times, but other than that it is great for all ages, but mostly the over elevens if possible and fans of either a fan of Neil Burger (the director) or Edward Norton’s convincing fake beard and wig .

Thank you for reading, I throughly enjoyed watching and reviewing this film, i will write another review as soon as i can
